Position Overview

As Chief Technology Officer, Video Systems you will be responsible for all video and graphics technology at Sequence, and shape the technological direction of our flagship video editing platform. You will lead a team of highly skilled engineers, working collaboratively to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our users. You will work closely with the CEO, product management, design, and business leadership to ensure our technology aligns with our strategic objectives and push Sequence to the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap that aligns with Sequence’s long-term vision and market trends, with an emphasis on video and graphics technology.

  • Innovation: Drive innovation by identifying emerging technologies and trends in the video editing space. Lead research and development efforts to bring new features and capabilities to Sequence.

  • Technical Leadership: Foster a culture of technical excellence within the organization. Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to excel.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and business leadership, to ensure that technology initiatives are in sync with business goals and user needs.

  • Product Technology Development: Oversee the entire technology development lifecycle, from concept to release. Ensure that products are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

  • Architecture and Scalability: Define and maintain the technical architecture of Sequence, ensuring it is scalable, robust, and capable of supporting the growing user base.

  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security measures to protect user data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology partners and vendors, evaluating and selecting third-party solutions when necessary.

  • Team Building: Recruit, develop, and retain top talent. Build a diverse and highly motivated technical team capable of delivering world-class products.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role, preferably in the software industry with a focus on video editing or related domains.

  • Strong understanding of video editing technologies, multimedia, and related software.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and manage high-performing engineering and research teams.

  • Track record of driving innovation and successfully bringing new products or features to market.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • A visionary thinker who can anticipate industry trends, translate them into actionable strategies, and execute on them.

  • Exceptional proficiency with systems level programming (C, C++, Rust, or similar) and computer graphics (CUDA, OpenGL, Vulkan, or similar).

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS or PhD) in computer science or a related field.

  • Experience with web development.

  • Experience with managing cloud infrastructure.

  • Experience working on NLE applications.

  • Experience with real-time, low latency, P2P networking.

  • Experience with open source multimedia libraries and frameworks such as FFMPEG and GStreamer.
