Larger facilities often arrive with an infrastructure question before a creative one: where does the media actually live, and can it live on storage we already control? It's a fair question, and we want to answer it honestly rather than oversell it.
Today, Sequence manages storage for you. Every project has its own media library in Sequence's cloud, private to the people you add to the project. You move footage in and out either through the browser or, for large volumes, by mounting a project as a local drive with Shuttle — your team works from local disk while Sequence keeps the cloud in step. Access to that media is governed by workspace and project roles, and projects are private by default. For most teams, that's the storage story: it's handled, and it's scoped to the right people.
Bring-your-own storage is not available yet
Connecting your own cloud storage buckets — or running a project on dedicated, region-specific infrastructure — is not a shipped feature today. If your production has a data-sovereignty, retention, or dedicated-infrastructure requirement, we'd rather talk it through with you than point you at a checkbox that doesn't exist. Reach the team at team@sequence.film.
What we can commit to now#
- Managed, private cloud storage — a media library per project, private by default and scoped to its members.
- Fast local access — Shuttle mounts projects as local drives and moves large media in and out without a manual upload pass.
- Role-based access — workspace and project roles decide who can reach a project's media.
On the roadmap#
We're actively interested in the infrastructure needs of studios and facilities — connecting existing cloud storage and offering dedicated options among them. These aren't available today, and we won't describe them as if they are. If this is a requirement for your team, tell us what you need at team@sequence.film so we can factor it into where we take this.
Who this is for#
- Heads of post and facilities evaluating where Sequence's media lives and how it's controlled
- Studios with existing cloud infrastructure who want to talk through a future fit
- Teams with specific data-residency or retention requirements who need a real conversation, not a spec sheet
