Sequence and Frame.io
Frame.io alternative for video review
Review a cut in the project where your team edits. Sequence Screenings bring shared playback, comments, and review status together with the timeline, so feedback stays close to the work.
Publish a Screening from your project
Frame.io provides review and sharing workflows alongside editing applications. In Sequence, publish a Screening from a timeline or library item in the project you are editing. Reviewers open its link to watch the cut and leave feedback. The Review app also brings the library, Screenings, preview, and comments into an in-project workspace.
Keep comments tied to the cut
Comments can refer to a frame or a range and include replies and mentions. Screening status helps communicate where a cut stands, using options such as Needs Review, Rough Cut, Color Lock, and Approved. Sequence does not currently provide freeform drawing annotations. Check how your reviewers give feedback before changing their workflow.
Match sharing controls to the review
A public Screening is available to anyone with its link. A private Screening is limited to project members. Frame.io offers additional sharing controls, including passphrases, expiration, and watermark options on applicable plans. Sequence Screenings do not yet provide those options. Use private access when membership-based review fits, and keep your existing review tool when the delivery requires controls Sequence does not offer.

Check the fit before switching
- Screenings have no password gate, link expiry, or watermarking yet. Private access requires project membership.
- Freeform drawing annotations and stacked file versions are not available. Time Travel is timeline history, not a replacement for version stacks.
- Sequence does not offer Camera to Cloud ingest. Plan to upload media, import from a URL, or use Shuttle.
- Adopting Screenings does not import an existing edit into Sequence. Timeline import from another editor is not yet supported.
Run a review with your actual reviewers
- Choose a representative cut or media item in a Sequence project and publish a Screening.
- Choose public or private access. For private review, invite the reviewers as project members with the appropriate roles.
- Ask reviewers to leave frame and range comments, reply to a note, and check the Screening status workflow.
- Confirm that access controls, annotation tools, and revision handling meet the production's requirements before moving client reviews.
Common questions
Can Sequence replace Frame.io for client video review?
Screenings can cover shared playback, frame or range comments, replies, mentions, and review status inside a Sequence project. Check client requirements first: passwords, link expiry, watermarking, freeform drawing, and stacked file versions are not available yet.
Can I password-protect a Sequence Screening?
No. Screenings support public access for anyone with the link or private access for project members. Password gates, link expiry, and watermarking are not yet available.
Does Sequence support Camera to Cloud?
No. Bring footage into a Sequence project through upload, URL import, or Shuttle. Teams relying on direct Camera to Cloud ingest should keep that requirement in their workflow evaluation.
Is Time Travel the same as Frame.io version stacks?
No. Time Travel lets you browse a timeline's edit history and duplicate or revert to a past state. It does not group uploaded file revisions into a version stack for review.
