Sequence Shuttle's Settings window holds every control for configuring how Shuttle behaves on your Mac, from its local cache to your account and update checks — open it from the menu bar. The window has two tabs, Settings and Uploads; this page documents every control on the Settings tab, in the order it appears top to bottom. The Uploads tab is covered separately, in Track uploads and downloads.
Note
If you're signed out, the Settings window shows only two buttons, Login and Quit — none of the controls below appear until you sign in.
Cache#
Cache Location — Shows the folder where Shuttle currently stores its cache (files it keeps on disk so it doesn't have to re-download them from the cloud every time you open them).
- Change… — Opens the macOS folder picker (folders only), starting at the current cache folder if it still exists on disk; select a new folder and click Choose. Shuttle doesn't move anything yet — it asks you to confirm first, since moving the cache clears out everything currently cached and cancels any transfers in progress.
- Reset — Appears only when the cache isn't already at its default location. Moves the cache back to Shuttle's built-in default folder, through the same confirmation and with the same effect: the current cache is cleared and any in-progress transfers are cancelled.
Size — A number field plus a stepper (in steps of 128 MB) for the cache's size limit, with a Megabytes label showing the unit. Defaults to 100 GB. Whatever value you set is held between 1 GB and 1 TB. Raising the limit — or lowering it to a value still at or above what the cache currently uses — takes effect right away. Lowering it below the amount currently in use instead brings up a "Trim Cache?" confirmation, warning that the difference will be cleared first; confirm with Reduce Cache, or Cancel to keep the current size. This limit governs only the on-disk cache — Shuttle also keeps a separate, fixed 128 MB cache in memory that isn't adjustable here. See Intro to local caching and storage for how this cache is used.
Usage — A progress bar showing how much of your configured limit is currently in use, with a caption underneath giving the percentage used and the amount used out of the total.
Cleanup — Click Clear Cache to delete every cached file and cancel any active transfers.
Warning
Clearing the cache is permanent. Shuttle first asks "Are you sure you want to clear the cache?" — confirm with Clear Cache in the dialog, or Cancel to back out.
General#
Four switches, each taking effect the moment you flip it — none of them shows a confirmation dialog.
- Launch at login — Starts Shuttle automatically whenever you log into your Mac. Off by default.
- Show completed jobs until next session — Keeps finished uploads and downloads listed in Shuttle instead of clearing them right away, until you quit and reopen the app. On by default.
- Enable desktop notifications — Turns on macOS notifications from Shuttle. Off by default.
- Warn when switching workspaces with active mounts — Controls whether Shuttle warns you before switching to a different workspace (the project space you're currently connected to) while you still have projects mounted (appearing as local drives in Finder). On by default.
Account#
Account — Shows the email address you're signed in with.
Log Out — Signs you out of Shuttle right away. There's no confirmation dialog for this one, so make sure you mean to sign out before clicking it.
Selected Workspace — A menu listing every workspace you belong to. Choosing a different one brings up a "Switch Workspace?" confirmation, naming your current and new workspace and warning that switching unmounts all your projects and cancels any in-progress transfers. Confirm with Switch Workspace, or Cancel to stay where you are. Picking the workspace that's already selected does nothing and shows no dialog.
About#
About Sequence Shuttle — Shows Shuttle's full version number. If a newer version is available, an "Update available: v[version]" line appears underneath.
Check for Updates — Manually checks for a new version of Shuttle. It's dimmed while a check is already running or unavailable. After you've checked at least once, a "Last checked: [time]" caption shows how long ago that was.
