Every Sequence workspace runs on a plan. The plan sets how many seats (workspace members) you can have, how much storage and runtime you get, and which features are unlocked. This page covers choosing or changing a plan, managing payment in the Stripe billing portal, reading your subscription status, and checking storage usage.
Note: Only the workspace Owner can change plans or open the billing portal. Admins and Members see these controls but they're disabled. See Workspace roles and permissions.
The plan and billing controls live in workspace settings. Open your workspace, go to workspace settings, and under Workspace in the settings sidebar you'll find Billing and Usage.
Plans#
Sequence offers three plans, shown as cards when you go to choose or upgrade:
- Hobby — "for teams trying Sequence." The free starter plan.
- Team — "for professional teams." Marked Most Popular, this is the standard paid plan.
- Studio — "for bringing teams together." The largest plan, for organizations running several teams.
Each plan card lists its price, the number of included seats, included storage, and included runtime credits, plus any features that plan unlocks (for example, private screenings). Higher plans include more seats and storage. Storage and runtime beyond what's included are billed as usage on top of the plan.
Need something the three plans don't cover? On the plan-selection screen, under Need a custom solution?, click Contact Us to email the Sequence team.
Exact prices and limits
Seat counts, storage amounts, runtime credits, and prices are shown on the live plan cards in Sequence, and can change over time. Read the current numbers off the cards rather than relying on a figure quoted elsewhere.

Choose or change your plan#
- In Sequence, open your workspace and go to workspace settings.
- Under Workspace in the settings sidebar, click Billing.
- Under Subscription Status, click Upgrade. The plan-selection screen opens, headed Select a Plan (or Upgrade your Workspace if you already have an active subscription).
- On the plan you want, click Get Hobby, Get Team, or Get Studio. Your current plan shows Current Plan instead and can't be re-selected.
What happens next depends on whether the workspace already has an active subscription:
- No active subscription yet: Sequence sends you to Stripe Checkout to enter payment details. After you pay, you return to Sequence and see a "Subscription successful" confirmation.
- Already subscribed: Sequence switches your plan in place, returns you to Billing, and confirms with a "Subscription successful" message. You don't pass through Checkout again.
Note: You can switch plans later at any time — the plan-selection screen tells you so directly.
Note: If you're not the workspace Owner, the plan-selection screen shows "Only workspace owners can manage subscription plans" and the plan buttons are disabled.
Manage payment and invoices#
Payment methods, invoices, and cancellation are handled in Stripe's billing portal, not inside Sequence.
- On the Billing settings screen, find Subscription Details.
- Click Go to Customer Billing Portal.
Sequence opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can view and edit your subscription, update your payment method, and download invoices. When you're done, return to Sequence.
Note: This button is available only to the workspace Owner. For anyone else it's disabled.
Subscription status#
The Billing screen shows a Subscription Status badge for the workspace. Common values:
Subscription statuses
Only Active and Trialing count as an active subscription — those are the states that unlock paid features. If the status is anything else, Sequence prompts you to choose or fix a plan before you can use subscription-gated features.
How seats gate members#
Every workspace member counts as one seat, and each plan includes a fixed number of seats. Seats gate your team in two directions:
- Inviting: When the workspace is at its seat limit, the Invite new members section on the Members settings screen is disabled, and a banner appears: "Upgrade to add more team members — You've reached your workspace member limit." Click Upgrade Now in that banner to move to a plan with more seats, or free a seat by removing a member. See Invite and manage members.
- Joining: When someone tries to join a workspace that has no seats left, the join screen shows "No seats available" and blocks the join until a seat opens up. See Join a workspace.
Guests count toward your seat limit too. For how roles work across the workspace, see Workspace roles and permissions.
Check storage usage#
The Usage screen breaks down how much storage each project in the workspace is using.
- On the workspace settings sidebar, click Usage.
- Read the Storage Usage table. Projects are listed largest-first, with a Total row at the bottom.
Note: The Usage screen reports storage only — it doesn't show seat counts or runtime credit usage. Storage that exceeds your plan's included amount is billed as usage on top of your plan.
