LucidLink

LucidLink gives a team a shared, cloud-backed Filespace so everyone's editor can open the same media without keeping a full local copy. Sequence replaces the Filespace and the editor it feeds with one browser-based project — media, editing, and review all live in the same place, so there's no separate drive to provision, mount, or troubleshoot alongside your NLE.

A Filespace mounted as a local driveThe cloud project itself — media lives centrally, and you edit it straight in the browser, no drive to mount first
Local cache size and eviction settingsNothing to configure in the browser — Sequence keeps every asset centralized in its cloud project service

A separate NLE for editing on top of the FilespaceEditing, comments, and review in the same project — no second app to license or keep in syncEdit together in real time

Where Shuttle lines up with a Filespace#

If your team still wants local, Finder-level access to project media — for bulk ingest, or to open files in another app — Sequence Shuttle is the closer point of comparison, and its caching model works a lot like a Filespace:

In LucidLinkIn Shuttle
A Filespace mounted as a local driveA project mounted as a local drive at /Volumes/SequenceProjects/, from the menu bar or Mount with Shuttle in Sequence
On-demand streaming — you don't wait for a full local syncPrefetching — Shuttle downloads footage ahead of the playhead as you play or scrub, instead of syncing the whole file first
A configurable local cacheA disk cache, 1 GB–1 TB (100 GB by default), set in Shuttle's Settings, plus a fixed 1 GB in-memory cache
Automatic eviction as local storage fills upThe same idea — Shuttle throttles uploads once free cache headroom drops below 20%, then evicts the least recently used cached data below 10%
Cross-platform (macOS, Windows, Linux)macOS only, today
Any application can read the mounted volumeThe same, plus one-click file links that hand a single file from Sequence straight to its default Mac app

Shuttle is macOS only

Editing in Sequence works fully in the browser on any platform — Shuttle adds faster local ingest and a mounted drive for macOS users. Windows editors upload and work with media through the browser instead.

One project instead of a stack

LucidLink plus an NLE plus a review tool become one browser tab in Sequence: upload once, edit live with your team, and share a screening for approval — see Create and share a screening.
